Spring is around the corner, and so is our AL9GA 2024 golf season. Your board met on Feb 6, and will meet again on March 5. Pat Parker brought in a proposed budget for the upcoming season. The board discussed, made changes, and will revisit at the next board meeting to approve. As soon as the budget is approved by the board, we will post it to our AL9GA club webpage for your review.
Dianna Gibson has most of our playdays organized and is still working out some details as well as a few away playdays. The tournament schedule has been set. Sleeping Bear (Member-Member) will be Tuesday June 25, and Mama Zia (Member-Guest) will be Wednesday & Thursday, August 28 & 29. You can find the complete play day and tournament schedule on the AL9GA club webpage.
Dianna has our Handbook on the AL9GA club webpage for you to refer to. If you just have a paper copy, you can download and print from your home computer. She will have a paper copy of the member contact list and the play day schedule available for anyone who needs a paper copy, but all is online to save printing costs.
Vicky Rollins has our socials all set and organized. Thank you to all who volunteered their homes to host. Mark your calendar for…May 28 at Susanna Tumlinson’s house, June 18 at Karen Dickerson’s house, July 23 at Alissa Goates’ house, August 13 at Kitty White’s house, and September’s social will be our Fall Awards Luncheon on September 19. Stay tuned for more details.
Susan Holmes has been working with the golf pros at the club for our lessons for the summer season. Last year we had really good feedback from what our golfers learned, so we are preparing for another season of lessons. We hope to have more participation this year. As soon as we know the exact dates and times, we will let you know so can mark your calendar.
Laura Archibald is our new photographer for the 2024 season. She has been working on both bulletin boards - one in the ladies’ bathroom and the other in the hallway outside the club office. Laura got the AMGA to trade bulletin board spots with us, as ours was hidden behind the office door when the club office was open. Be sure to take lots of pictures this season and send them to Laura to post on our boards. Go check out the boards - I know she has done a terrific job! Thank you, Laura!
We had to make a few changes to the committee chairs due to the ALGA and AL9GA having the same play day. Rosemary Maupin is now our New Member Liaison. The Reverse Raffle will be chaired by Amy Fox; assisting Amy will be Lindal Sanders, Cindy Delay, and Tona Nelson. Also, Susan Holmes, Pat Parker, Karen Robinson, Vinnie Birdwell, Donna Aldridge and Kay Fuhrman will be helping Amy with the Reverse Raffle. Dianna Gibson has asked Amy Fox and Gracie Rheingans to assist her on Wednesday for check-in and scoring. Thank you, 9-Holers, for stepping up to volunteer. You guys rock! I feel we have a great team this year.
That about does it for now. Have a great spring break, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter - Whew! March is a busy month, but I hope you take time to play some golf in this beautiful weather.
