Happy New Year! Happy thoughts and blessings to you all as we enter 2024!
The AL9GA board will be working on our budget this month for the 2024 golf season. Some dates to put on your calendar are:
May 8th- first 9-holer golf at Alto
May 21st – first 9-holer social
May 29th – first Ace Day lunch - Alto
June 25th- Sleeping Bear Tournament Member/Member
August 28th-29th - Mama Zia Tournament Member/Guest
(You have time to get your partners lined up for Sleeping Bear & Mama Zia)
Sept 19th – Awards Luncheon
Other dates are below on the unofficial/official calendar – of course, there may be changes as our season evolves with the new schedule. As you notice in the calendar below, Dianna will be scheduling us some off-site play days where the club has tournaments that take us off our regular play day dates.
The Wednesday playdates are going to be a challenge for all of us. The biggest change will be for our members who are both 9-holers and 18-holers – they will have to make a choice on the weeks that there is a conflict. We have about 64 members who are members of both, so this is significant to their schedule and playing time. My best advice for all of us is to remain positive and patient, and to have fun as we appreciate our beautiful spot to play golf. We, as your board, will do our best to represent you as an Association. However, we are also going to support and respect the club and board of directors’ decision as they put this year’s data to the test to figure out the years following. We will keep you posted.
Dianna Gibson is also working on having a 9-and-Wine group in the afternoons where tee times are generally plentiful. This “non-official” group is already established and will give those who can’t play on our regular 9-holer play days a chance to play with other members. They basically go play about 2:30 or 3:00, then go to the club lounge for social time. It’s fun and a great group of ladies.
We need volunteers to host our once-a-month socials. Please contact our social chair Vicky Rollins at 901-590-8312 if you would like to host in your home.
We are also in need of a volunteer to oversee decorating the tables for the Sleeping Bear tournament on June 25th – if you are interested, please let Dianna Gibson or one of the other board members know.
I leave you with this thought:
Our happiness doesn’t depend on our circumstances – it is based on how we CHOOSE to be happy.
That about wraps it up for this month – I hear the weather has been beautiful for golf in Alto, so go play and have fun!
