Alto Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association (AL9GA)

The Alto Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association would like to welcome all the ladies of the Alto Golf and Country Club to join the AL9GA. Our objective is to have fun while learning more about the game of golf.

Betsey Massey is credited for initially recognizing the needs of a group of women at Alto Lakes who were interested in playing 9 rather than 18 holes of golf due to time constraints, skill level or physical limitations. Betsey inspired Norma Hendon and Marvel McKinley to formally establish the Alto Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association in 2001 by adapting by-laws and standing rules. Norma became the first president and Marvel organized the play days. The rapid growth of the Alto Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association endorsed the wisdom and vision of these three ladies, and the AL9GA quickly became a sanctioned entity in the Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club community.

April 2023

Happy April, everyone!

Spring is here…Yay!  Everything will soon be greening up and hopefully you all will be getting in more golf.

The AL9GA board did not meet in March, but there was lots of work going on behind the scenes.  Dianna Gibson, our Play Day Chair (one of her many hats), has gotten all our Play Days lined out and on the Club calendar.  You can go the Club website, click on Associations, click on AL9GA and you will see the 2023 Play Day calendar, all of our summer socials, and our two tournaments – Sleeping Bear and Mama Zia.

March 2023

I hope your winter is going well.  It is always at this time of the year I start looking forward to Spring.  Looking at the Alto weather, I’m sure those who live here full-time are ready for warmer weather.

Not much to report as our activity is low.  The board did meet on Feb 7th to make a few decisions for the upcoming golf year.  The board will not meet in March, but we start back monthly meetings in April.

February 2023

I hope you are staying warm in this chilly environment.  The season change is good, but looking forward to warmer golfing weather.
The AL9GA board has been working hard on our 2023 budget, the 2023 playday schedule, and getting the survey ready for you to click and link to from the club association page.  Thank you to Dianna Gibson, who is working hard at getting the online links from our club page.  Also, thank you to Caleb in the club office for helping update our webpage.

A Very Merry Christmas and Happy 2023 New Year!

I feel blessed to be a part of such a great group of ladies and am looking forward to our upcoming 2023 golf season.

Your AL9GA board met on December 6th to discuss the 2023 budget.  Pat Parker, our treasurer, is finalizing the budget and will present it at our next board meeting on Jan 3, 2023. The board has worked very hard in thinking through plans for this golf season with our budget in mind.  We will post our budget, after it has been approved by the board, for your information.
