Greetings - June is here! We are upon season and events and activities galore. I’d like to start with an enormous shout out to Lance McMillan, who has moved on from Alto lakes. Lance and his wife Melissa will be moving to Frisco, TX, where he will be working as an instructor at GOLFTEC. As much as we hate to lose Lance, we are happy for him in his new endeavor and chapter in life. For the last 14 years, Lance was a huge part of our team. We wish a big, heartfelt “thank you” to him for all he did for the club; he will be deeply missed.
Meet Kirk Taylor! I think many of you know him; Kirk is our new Head Golf Professional at Alto and joins us with vast experience as a Golf Professional. He spent the last several years at Kokopelli as the Golf Professional and made a huge difference. Kirk also worked at Alto from 1989-2001and 2014-2019; needless to say, he’s quite familiar with Alto. Kirk is an excellent instructor and will be doing plenty of teaching, as well as managing day-to-day operations. Please stop in and say hello to Kirk.
SCORE POSTING!
As I have mentioned before, our Handicap Committee is in its process of beginning to monitor score postings between GHIN and Foretees. We will be following the missed score postings that Foretees produces to ensure the integrity of players’ handicap indexes. We understand that some scores cannot be posted. I am here to advocate that all of your stipulated round scores should be posted; it’s your true golf identity. This enables our club tournaments and associations to be fair and equitable……POST YOUR SCORES!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As we are in the middle of our tee reconstruction and temporary tees are in effect, we have gotten much feedback about score posting. As mentioned, the USGA 5-2G states to post as you normally would. This affects Black and Blue tee players primarily. Many have been concerned with handicaps going down because of a substantially shorter golf course; they could. Bear in mind, this project is temporary. Here’s an idea for a regular round of golf; from the par 4s and 5s, tee off with a club that would put you in the spot you would normally be in from the normal course yardage tee spots.
KEEP HEADS UP
I’m not referring to your golf swingsJ I realize the mood has been a bit down during our tee project at Alto. Reading this certainly won’t improve the course conditions, either. However, I’d just like to reiterate the importance of this project for the golf course. It’s actually quite long overdue. Unfortunately, we must do this during our playing season, and it puts a damper on our normal playing conditions. The end result will be amazing for the membership! Let’s look at this from the glass half full.
We have all of our H2B and local staff for this year. They are a really good bunch, and many of them come with plenty of club experience. Be sure to stop by and say hello. They are here to serve you!

HOLE IN ONE REPORT: We have one hole-in-one to report for May. Randy Peeples hit a flip wedge on #3 at Alto for an ace! It was witnessed by Gary Etchison, Donnie Tucker, Steve Kennedy, and Danny West. Great shot, Randy!
Are you in the Hole-in-One Club? If you are interested, please contact Charisse Wadsworth at ar@altolakesgolf.com. Each golf shop also has a simple form to fill out should you have one.
