Hello, Al9GA:
I hope your winter is going well. It is always at this time of the year I start looking forward to Spring. Looking at the Alto weather, I’m sure those who live here full-time are ready for warmer weather.
Not much to report as our activity is low. The board did meet on Feb 7th to make a few decisions for the upcoming golf year. The board will not meet in March, but we start back monthly meetings in April.
The budget has been approved – thank you, Pat Parker, for all your hard work – Pat transitioned into the position of treasurer this year and has done an amazing job. If you want to see the results, the Member Survey is linked to our webpage. We are working to make this year super awesome with some of the suggestions that were mentioned in the survey by several golfers. Thank you all for your input.
Dianna will add the 2023 play days and socials to the website soon. She is still checking out alternative locations for play when Alto is closed for other tournaments or events. The dates have been approved by Alto Greens, just working on a few locations.
Since the status of Kokopelli is uncertain, we have gotten approval to use Alto for two consecutive days for the Mama Zia tournament in August. We would like to use both the front and back 9 to decrease slow play. Using both 9’s would allow for 88 groups.
Our long-sleeve IBKul 9-Holer turquoise shirts are available to order. These shirts have sun protection and netting under the arm/sleeve to keep you cool. We have had over 60 orders so far, but there is still time if you haven’t ordered yet. Just text or email me at: 281-734-2514 or cjjdelay@yahoo.com. The cost is around $60 plus tax and will be billed to your Alto club account.
Susan Holmes, our Vice President, has spoken to the pros at both Alto and Outlaw about offering group lessons. She has gotten positive feedback and is working out the details with Kirk, Sean, and Martin. The 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1:00 and 3:00 with a maximum of 10 golfers has been decided so far. We hope that the lessons will be about 45 mins long, and the approximate cost will be $10 per golfer. Susan is still working out the details as to how we will group players for the lessons. Amy Fox and Susan Holmes will meet the pros at Outlaw to finalize the details. We need to get the lessons on the calendar soon before the club calendar fills up.
I think that is all I have to report. Looking forward to seeing everyone in May.
Thank you, and play lots of golf wherever you are!
Cindy Delay
AL9GA President
